On October 3 in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union held a press conference to inform about the Proud Vietnam Farmers 2022 program.
As the head of the organizing committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Central Executive Committee Pham Tien Nam of the Vietnam Farmers' Union said that the Proud Vietnamese Farmers 2022 as well as the series of events would take place on October 13 and October 14.
The main events include: The "Excellent Vietnamese Farmer of 2022" Honoring and Award Ceremony; Excellent Vietnamese Farmer of 2022 meet leaders of the National Assembly, visit the National Assembly building and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long; The 10-year gala of Proud Vietnamese Farmers: “A Green Decade”; Launching the 10-year special journal of Proud Vietnamese Farmers; Exchanges with excellent Vietnamese Farmers of Bac Giang province in the past 10 years; Bringing farmers to visit and study in Israel (expected in early 2023).
The ceremony to honor and award the title of "Excellent Vietnamese Farmer of 2022" was chaired by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in collaboration with the Central Propaganda Department, Central Economic Commission, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Information and Communications, and State Bank of Vietnam. The event will be held at 7.00 p.m on October 14 at the Hanoi Opera House.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Proud Vietnamese Farmers program, this year the organizing committee decided to award the “Excellent Vietnamese Farmers” title to 100 farmers instead of 63 farmers every year. Accordingly, each province selects the most typical farmer while following the criteria and voting rules set out by the committee.
“The additional slots of 37 new farmers out in 2022 will particularly prioritize farmers conducting good business in key agricultural areas, models with a high widespread effect that making great contributions to the community and society. Priority will also be given to new generations of farmers, who boldly start a business with agriculture and have had success, creating a new trend in agriculture,” Pham Tien Nam said.
According to the organizing committee of the Proud Vietnamese Farmers 2022 program, after 3 months of receiving the registration, by May 26 the program organizing committee had received 249 applications. After that, the voting council judged the applications for two rounds and selected the 100 most typical farmers to award the title of “Excellent Vietnamese Farmer of 2022”.
Classified by agricultural fields, there are 32 farmers in the field of cultivation; 25 farmers in the field of animal husbandry and aquaculture; 10 farmers with outstanding achievements in production linkages and cooperatives; 8 farmers with achievements in the field of new rural construction and national security protection; 25 farmers were honored in the fields of innovation, digital transformation and entrepreneurship.
Another thing to note is that due to the renewal of the voting method in 2022, some localities may have two farmers awarded the title of Excellent Vietnamese Farmers, for example Phu Tho province alone already has three Excellent Vietnamese Farmers title-holders.
According to Luong Quoc Doan, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Proud Vietnamese Farmers 2022 program (with the focus on The ceremony to honor and award the title of "Excellent Vietnamese Farmer of 2022") has had a 10-year journey full of glory and meaning.
“The 100 Excellent Vietnamese Farmers of 2022 are all examples of dynamic and creative farmers in economic development; those who dare to think and act, effectively using and exploiting capital, labor and land resources, boldly applying science and new technology to production. They really are symbols of magnificence, representing millions of farmers across the country who are producing, conducting bussiness and staying creative day and night at the forefront of the economic development process in agriculture, countryside and new rural construction,” said Luong Quoc Doan.
Also within the framework of Proud Vietnamese Farmers 2022, the organizing committee also develops a plan to bring farmers to visit smart agricultural models in Israel (expected in early 2023). With 50% of the area being desert, Israel still stands out as one of the leading countries in clean and sustainable agroproduction. Bringing Vietnam’s excellent farmers to visit smart agricultural models in Israel will thus help them learn one step at a time and then apply the knowledge to actual production.
