Speaking at the conference to review the first 6 months of 2021 of the livestock industry on July 5 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that the domestic livestock industry has been negatively affected by the objective factors of market supply and demand in today’s highly open market economy; however, it is a normal issue.
According to him, the livestock industry will experience both ups and downs as it is regulated by the market.
Therefore, moments in which the prices of animal feed increases and of cattle and poultry decreases should not be considered as the general situation of the whole industry, he added.
“It is necessary to view the livestock industry in recent years as a game of chess and it can be confirmed that we are on the right track in this game. The industry needs to have a clear and direct look at its own situation to see its strengths and weaknesses, which aspects should be promoted and which areas need to be improved in order to have more timely orientation and forecast, avoid being passive and follow the market's movements”, the Deputy Minister said.
He requested the livestock industry to pay particular attention to disease prevention and control to protect the achieved results, which is a prerequisite in the last six months of 2021.
At the same time, the industry needs to continue to reform administrative procedures, reduce business conditions and conduct specialized inspection to create favorable conditions for individuals and businesses to invest in the livestock sector, especially in the processing field to increase added value for the industry.
