According to General Department of Vietnam Customs, fruit and vegetable export to Chinese markets fell sharply over the first 2 months of 2022, only reaching $261 million, down 25,8% over the same session of 2021.

Due to a sharp drop in exports to China, fruit and vegetable export to all markets in the past two months reached $508 million, down 9.6% over the same session.

Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export to Chinese markets face difficulties due to congestion at the Northern road border gates.

Additionally, from January 1, 2022, export of agro-products to China must be in accordance with Order 248 and Order 249 on food safety management and supervision of the General Administration of Customs of China.

The implementation of these regulations is still impeded by many obstacles due to the new online foreign business registration system of China Customs, slow access speed, Chinese language, and difficult-to-follow interface… The approval of product codes by the General Administration of Customs of China is still slow with no regulation on approval time for granting business registration codes.

While exporting to China faces challenges, the trend of shifting fruit and vegetable export to other markets is maintained, especially exports to markets requiring high quality such as: the US which reached $39.4 million, up 68.5%; exports to the Korean market reached $24 million, up 42.1%; Japan reached $18.5 million, up 10.2%; Australia reached $15 million, up 25.2%...

The proportion of fruit and vegetable exports to these markets increased in the first 2 months of 2022.
