The inauguration ceremony of BIFA WOOD VIETNAM 2023, the Binh Duong International Wood, Machinery, and Materials Exhibition, took place on August 9 at the WTC EXPO located in Binh Duong City.
The attendance at the inauguration ceremony included Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Provincial Party Committee Secretary of Binh Duong, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, leaders from various associations, commodity industries, and both local and foreign enterprises.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nguyen Quoc Tri, expressed that Vietnam's wood and forest product processing industry made significant progress in 2022. This achievement can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including central and local levels, as well as businesses and associations. Vietnam serves as an important destination for international forest products, contributing to its export value of over 17 billion USD, which has witnessed a growth rate of 7.1%. We have established our sense of pride and standing as the second-ranked country in Asia and the fifth-ranked country globally in terms of wood and wood product exports.
During the initial seven-month period of 2023, an increase of conflicts and complicated and prolonged circumstances resulted in a surge in global inflation. Consequently, the primary export markets for Vietnam's forest products experienced a reduction in spending on non-essential items, such as timber and forest products. Therefore, the export value of wood and forest products merely amounted to 7.8 billion USD, reflecting a decline of 25.5% compared to the corresponding period.
At present, our joint efforts are focused on implementing a variety of solutions aimed at transforming challenges into opportunities. These solutions encompass various strategies such as model modifications, market expansion, and technological advancements. The Binh Duong International Wood Materials and Machinery Exhibition, known as BIFA WOOD, which started today in 2023, serves as a demonstration of the Association's and enterprises' initiative, flexibility, creativity, and adaptation, as highlighted by Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri.
In agreement with this perspective, Nguyen Van Danh, the Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, has the belief that the International Wood Materials and Machinery Exhibition has established itself as a reputable event that takes place in Binh Duong on an annual basis.
This activity necessitates further development and broader recognition in order to facilitate and enhance commerce, connectivity, and import/export operations at the local level.
Mr. Nguyen Van Danh emphasized that the exhibition aims to provide both domestic and foreign associations and businesses with a platform to showcase valued and high-quality products, as well as to exchange knowledge on recent advancements and innovations in the manufacturing industry. This, in turn, will contribute to the improvement of technological capabilities within the manufacturing sector and enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
As to the organizers' statement, the current year's exhibition witnessed a proactive participation of around 800 booths, comprising over 100 major local and foreign firms. The fair showcases wood products, machinery, and advanced technology in the wood processing industry. It is divided into three main product groups: industrial machinery and equipment for wood processing from various countries and territories, auxiliary materials for the wood industry and wood processing, and wood production and processing from domestic enterprises and enterprises from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and other countries.
The Fair provides businesses in the sector with a platform to engage in networking, information sharing, and collaboration. Moreover, it aims to establish a comprehensive vertical integration within the industry, connecting raw material and accessory suppliers, machinery and technology providers, as well as manufacturers and traders. This event provides organizations with the chance to directly assess and choose sophisticated automation products from many recognized manufacturers based in the US, Europe, Japan, China, and Taiwan (China), among other regions.
Taking place from August 9 to 12, the fair will encompass various activities centered around the exploration of wood processing and manufacturing factories in Binh Duong. Workshops will also be conducted, addressing the topic of accessing capital for wood businesses. Furthermore, seminars will be held to discuss the enhancement of design through the utilization of multi-material adhesive solutions from 3M, specifically in relation to finishing product surfaces with 3M sanding solution.
