Exchange trash for gifts to encourage plastic waste recycling

On March 18, the 12th International Exhibition on Raw Materials, Equipment, and Machinery for the Plastics & Rubber Industry (Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2025), organized by Informa Market and Messe Düsseldorf Asia, officially opened.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Tran Viet Anh, Chairman of the Vietnam Waste Recycling Association, said that the Vietnamese rubber and plastics industry has had remarkable development, making an essential contribution to the national economy. The plastics industry has a revenue of USD 25 billion per year with a growth rate of 10-12%, while rubber exports reached USD 3.5 billion, helping Vietnam become one of the leading rubber exporting countries in the world.

Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2025 will be a meeting place connecting the plastics and rubber industries, opening trade opportunities with more than 440 booths from 26 countries and territories. However, along with strong development, the rubber and plastics industry also faces significant environmental challenges, especially the issue of plastic waste and the need for sustainable recycling. Tran Viet Anh believes this is an essential time for the industry to move towards a greener, more circular, and more responsible model.

The packaging, plastics, and rubber industries are witnessing a substantial shift toward automation, production optimization, and sustainable development in an increasingly competitive market. Requirements for quality, environmental friendliness, and cost savings pose challenges while opening up many opportunities for innovation and improving competitiveness. "The Vietnam Waste Recycling Association is actively promoting the collection and recycling of plastic and rubber waste through circular economy models. One of the key issues is extended producer responsibility (EPR), a mechanism that forces businesses to take responsibility for the product life cycle, from production to recovery and recycling.

Good implementation of EPR will not only minimize environmental impacts but also create strong development opportunities for the recycling industry," Tran Viet Anh, adding that Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2025 is not only a place for businesses to display products but also an opportunity to discuss and promote the development of the rubber and plastic industry in a greener, cleaner and more environmentally responsible direction.

In addition to the exhibition, there is also a series of specialized seminars updating new trends for the green and sustainable Vietnamese plastic and rubber industry.

Gathering more than 360 exhibitors from 29 countries and territories, displaying the latest technologies in packaging, food processing, beverage technology, raw materials, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and cold supply chains.
