This is one of the province's activities to respond to the National Week for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control 2024, with the theme "Anticipatory Action – A Proactive Approach to Disaster Management."

At the launching ceremony, functional forces and people built ecological embankments and planted trees with a total length of 200 m along the river in area 3, Lai Hieu ward, Nga Bay city.

Mr. Tran Thanh Toan, Director of the Sub-Department of Water Resources and Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Hau Giang Province, said that ecological embankments have low costs, are made of locally available materials, are easy to implement, and are highly effective.

People can take advantage of melaleuca trees, bamboo trees, and old coconut trunks to build embankments, reinforce with wire nets, and fill soil inside to plant suitable green trees to create an ecological environment. When the trees grow, they will contribute to preventing landslides. Ecological embankments also create riverside land funds, so people can take advantage of growing vegetables to increase their income.
