Doveco is a model of successful transformation from a farm to a joint stock company

(VAN) On May 28, while visiting and working at Doveco (Ninh Binh), the Prime Minister emphasized that this is a model of successful transformation from a state-owned farm to a joint stock company.

During the working session with Dong Giao Foodstuff Export Joint Stock Company (Doveco), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the raw pineapple field, the pineapple and corn pre-processing area, and the lychee classification and processing area.

Listening to information from Doveco's leaders as well as the thoughts and aspirations of workers, the Prime Minister praised the company's success in recent times. "Doveco is a model of successful transformation from a state-owned farm to a joint stock company. That shows that the Party and State's guidelines and policies are correct when people know how to do it and do it right," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The head of Government said that the fact that Doveco expanded its scale not only in Ninh Binh but also reached Son La and Gia Lai with a large number of products and then combined with Dong Thap and many localities to expand business products shows the company's success.

According to the Prime Minister, these successes are partly due to the infrastructure development in Ninh Binh, specifically the highway system that, after being completed, connected raw material areas, so it is possible to purchase remotely without worrying about quality loss or needing to invest in a factory.

Reviewing Doveco's successes, the Prime Minister was impressed with the company's ability to create jobs for more than 30,000 people with an average income of VND 8–10 million/month. "Workers share that not only their material life but also their spiritual life and social welfare are guaranteed," the Prime Minister shared.

From the shares of the company's workers from the pineapple field to the production lines, the Prime Minister said that Doveco organizes annual dividend payments to farmers very well.

"I see farmers and workers are all excited; their lives have improved. Houses are spacious, clean, and beautiful; vehicles have changed from bicycles to motorbikes and cars," said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Another issue recognized by the Prime Minister is that Party work in Doveco has been enhanced and developed well in recent times, along with participating in social security activities with the locality.

Although there have been certain successes, the Prime Minister still wishes Doveco to continue to develop and become more successful. Right in the pineapple fields of Dong Giao, the Prime Minister said the company must find a plan to develop infrastructure and expand processing scale with new factories and production lines, including taking advantage of local support.

Next, the head of Government mentioned expanding farming areas and developing large sample fields to apply technology and machinery to tending and harvesting, thereby helping to increase labor productivity and farmers' income.

"Seed is also an important issue that needs attention. It is necessary to research, develop, and apply new pineapple varieties with higher quality and productivity. It is possible to clone to reduce seed production time," the Prime Minister suggested further.

Doveco's leaders were also asked by the Prime Minister to continue to coordinate with the locality to pay more attention to the material and spiritual lives of workers and farmers, both in culture and sports.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Doveco must promote the 71-year tradition, taking people as the center and the driving force for development in the coming time.

Regarding specific tasks for business development, the Prime Minister asked the company to continue building the Doveco brand, diversifying products, diversifying markets, and diversifying the global supply chain to meet market demand.

"Doveco needs to build and expand the raw material area through linkages with other units, businesses, and localities such as corn and bananas in Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, and Nghe An," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested.

The Prime Minister also noted investment in science and technology and innovation, specifically in seed, processing technology, packaging, design, etc. Besides, focus on digital transformation and green transformation in accordance with global trends. "Pay attention to utilizing agricultural by-products to develop a circular economy," he said.

In addition to Doveco's tasks, the Prime Minister also asked ministries, branches, and localities to continue to coordinate and support infrastructure development, offer preferential credit policies, or help the company develop and expand production.

For farmers and workers, the Prime Minister proposed to enhance the spirit of solidarity and improve labor productivity, thereby improving the lives of themselves and their families.

Mr. Dinh Cao Khue, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Doveco Company, said that in 2023, the company's revenue reached VND 3,000 billion, of which export turnover accounted for 80%. Compared to the same period, the company's export turnover in 2023 reached 169% compared to 2022.

Currently, the company has four main raw material areas, including agriculture within the company, the Northwest region, the Red River Delta and North Central region, and the Central Highlands region. With these four raw material areas, the current processing capacity of the factories reaches 136,000 tons/year.
