After picking up the rescue notice, the staff of the Organism Rescue, Conservation and Development Center (Cuc Phuong National Park) set out to receive the rescued animals in Da Nang city and Quang Tri province.
Within three days from January 6-8, 2022, the Organism Rescue, Conservation and Development Center has received 115 turtles belonging to 6 species, 1 masked palm civet, 2 Asian water dragons and 4 Javan pangolins. These individuals are all categorized in group IB and group IIB - rare and endangered species according to Decree 84/2021/ND-CP.
Mr. Trinh Van Nguyen, Head of Rescue Team, Organism Rescue, Conservation and Development Center (Cuc Phuong National Park), said that this is one of the largest number of turtles that they have ever rescued so far.
Fortunately all the rescued animals are in stable health this time. Examination results showed no signs of injuries or them being stuffed with unsuitable food. The rescued animals were soon brought to the Organism Rescue, Conservation and Development Center for further treatment and rehabilitation. The center stated that they will be returned to the natural habitat as soon as possible.
The Organism Rescue, Conservation and Development Center (Cuc Phuong National Park) hence expressed its gratitude to the Da Nang Forest Protection Department, the Investigation Police Department of Lien Chieu district, the Environmental Crime Prevention Department (Quang Tri Police Department) and the local community for supporting the rescue in a timely manner.
