Corteva Agriscience™ Vietnam, in collaboration with the Western Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (WASI), organized the conference on "Sustainable Development of Key Crops in Dak Lak and the Central Highlands." The event was held on June 21, 2024, in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province. Accordingly, it aims to promote advanced solutions for the sustainable production of key crops such as durian, coffee, and pepper.
The conference saw participation from representatives of the Dak Lak province's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dak Lak province's Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, local Crop Production and Plant Protection Stations, scientists, pesticide distributors, exemplary farmers, and various media outlets.
The conference provided an opportunity for scientists, managers, business owners, and farmers to discuss effective and sustainable production methods for key crops in Dak Lak province and the Central Highlands region.
During the conference, Nguyen Van Ha, Deputy Director of Dak Lak province's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, provided insights into province's strategy for sustainable agricultural development. Nguyen Hac Hien, General Director of Dak Lak province's Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, also reported on the local state of agricultural production situation and forecast pest issues that affect key crops in Dak Lak.
During the conference, the Krong Pak Plant Protection Station shared their initial trial results on Corteva's solutions for managing fruit rot and controlling rice thrips and citrus mealybugs on durian trees.
According to Corteva's assessment, their Zorvec® Encantia® Encantia product has been highly effective in preventing fruit rot on durian trees; promoting healthy growth with greener spines and appealing fruits; and reducing the risk of split spines.
With its quick, long-lasting efficacy and wash-off resistance, Zorvec® Encantia® 330SE effectively prevents and treats diseases even under adverse weather conditions with heavy rain. This helps farmers optimize investment efficiency, reduce labor and spraying costs, and maximize crop yields.
Additionally, two other advanced solutions from Corteva, the Radiant® 60SC biological insecticide and Closer® 500WG insecticide, have shown promising initial trial results in managing rice thrips and citrus mealybugs, two major pests for durian farmers.
In his address at the conference, Dang Van Bao, General Director of Corteva Vietnam, stated, "With the goal of promoting sustainable agricultural development, protecting farmers' health, and ensuring consumer safety, Corteva is committed to providing the most effective products to the Vietnamese market.
In the near future, Corteva will collaborate with institutions such as WASI to conduct trials and implement the most advanced solutions such as Zorvec® Encantia® 330SE, Closer® 500WG, and Radiant® 60SC, with a focus on durian trees. This series of solutions from Corteva will assist farmers in managing major pests such as citrus mealybugs, sucking insects, and fruit rot disease on durian trees."
Phan Viet Ha, Deputy Director of WASI, commented, "Based on the solutions provided by Corteva, which have seen global application, we will conduct trials to adapt them to local natural conditions as well as local economic and social backgrounds. The ultimate goal is for Corteva and WASI to develop the most effective technical processes and solutions to support farmers in immediate production application."
Within the framework of the conference, Corteva Agriscience™ Vietnam and WASI officially signed a five-year long-term cooperation agreement. The agreement encompasses trial and experimental activities for new products and solutions to provide information and training for farmers; collaborative activities in scientific research as well as training for technical experts from both parties, updating knowledge, and transferring new technologies between WASI and Corteva Agriscience™ Vietnam. This initiative aims to offer farmers advanced, high-quality solutions for managing major pests on key crops in Dak Lak province and the Central Highlands, thereby promoting sustainable agricultural development in Vietnam.
Corteva remains committed to providing the most advanced solutions, with the goal of encouraging farmers to confidently and effectively manage crop pests, enriching farmers' lives, and ensuring consumer safety.
