"Today is a significant milestone and a very exciting day for Nvidia. We are announcing the opening of Nvidia Vietnam, a major R&D center that will focus on artificial intelligence, software, and system technologies that Nvidia is currently deploying," commented Jensen Huang after signing an agreement with the government to establish two AI centers on the evening of December 5 in Hanoi.

Huang recalled the visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the company's headquarters in the United States in September of the previous year, likening the accomplishment announced today to the culmination of extensive efforts rather than the result of only 13 months since this visit. "With immense passion and enthusiasm, the Prime Minister convinced me that Vietnam should be Nvidia's home in the future. The people of Vietnam and the opportunities here make it an ideal place to invest," he added.

Huang observed that Vietnam is currently in a unique position to establish its future in AI, as a result of the "reset" of the technology industry, brought on by the development of artificial intelligence. He also highlighted that AI acquires knowledge from accessible data, which is why Vietnam must regard this as a national asset.

"Vietnam's artificial intelligence should be processed, built, and operated domestically, for the benefits of the people and industries of Vietnam," he said.

With the aim of driving the AI industry forward, the Nvidia CEO outlined a plan with three main objectives: building AI infrastructure, developing talent, and fostering a startup ecosystem.

Huang praised the strength of the Vietnamese in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), which has helped create a large pool of software engineers. He believes that the company’s research and development center can provide further training for these talents. "The R&D center is how we aim to train a large number of AI researchers in Vietnam," he said. With infrastructure and support from companies similar to Nvidia and encouragement from the government, he emphasized Vietnam's opportunity to create a vibrant and dynamic AI startup ecosystem.

"I believe that one day, when people talk about Vietnam, in addition to its culture, people, cuisine, and agriculture, they will also talk about a country advanced in technology," Jensen Huang remarked. "Thank you for welcoming us to Vietnam and making Vietnam Nvidia's home. Today marks our founding day."

At the signing ceremony on the afternoon of December 5 in Hanoi, the Prime Minister hailed the one-year collaboration between Vietnam and Nvidia as a significant milestone. He also reflected on Huang's strong commitment to making Vietnam its "second home" with a spirit of "what is said must be done, what is committed must be fulfilled, and what is done must bring concrete results."

Similarly, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung described this event as a "historic turning point for Vietnam," as it marks a new direction for Nvidia and establishes Vietnam as a leading AI research and development hub in Asia.

"The centers will play a key role in supporting AI research initiatives, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, and creating job opportunities for domestic talent," the Minister added.
