On May 16, in Bac Giang province, Central Retail Vietnam Group, and Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement on the consumption of lychee in the 2023 crop. Thereby, Central Retail Vietnam Group will aim to consume about 300 tons of Luc Ngan and Bac Giang lychee in 2023.
According to the Cooperation Agreement, the Bac Giang Department of Industrial and Trade will provide full information about the production and trading units of key agricultural products, typical of Bac Giang province for Central Retail Vietnam Group. After Central Retail Vietnam Group selects production and business units that meet the conditions and needs, the information help organize connection and consumption.
At the same time, the Department will direct businesses, cooperatives, and suppliers to closely coordinate, complete procedures and papers, and produce safe products according to regulations to provide for Central Retail Vietnam Group.
In addition, creating favorable conditions for Central Retail Vietnam Group to learn the reality of local production, supply organization, and consumption of lychee and agricultural products and food. Investing in facilities for processing, preliminary processing, and distribution of lychee and other agricultural and food products if it meets the conditions and needs of Central Retail Vietnam Group.

On the contrary, Central Retail Vietnam Group will carry out many activities to promote the consumption of lychee in the season of 2023 in Bac Giang province. Specifically, this includes providing information and guiding businesses, cooperatives, and local suppliers on conditions, procedures, and documents to put products into consumption at the supermarket system of Central Retail Vietnam Group.
The group will also coordinate and consider bringing lychee and other key agricultural products, typical of Bac Giang province, to consumption at supermarkets of Central Retail Vietnam Group (GO!, Big C, Tops Market, etc.) at a specific time. For products that are not yet eligible to be put into the system immediately, continue to guide enterprises, cooperatives, and production households to complete the conditions and procedures in the fastest time.
The Group has the full right to review, evaluate, select, and decide on the selling prices of products of local businesses, cooperatives, and suppliers that meet the necessary conditions. This is to bring products into the supermarket system of Central Retail Vietnam Group.
Depending on the needs at each time, Central Retail Vietnam Group will support the location and advise the organization towards the goal of promoting key agricultural products, typical of Bac Giang province. This also includes weekly programs and promotions at Central Retail Vietnam Group.
According to a report by the Bac Giang Department of Industrial and Trade, in 2023, the province's total lychee area is 29,700 ha (an increase of 1,400 ha compared to 2022), and the output is estimated at over 180,000 tons. The area for early ripening lychee is 7,700 ha, and the output is estimated at 57,000 tons. The main lychee crop has an area of 22,000 ha, with an estimated output of over 120,000 tons. Safe lychee according to VietGAP standards is 15,600 ha, and the output is about 113,800 tons. Lychee produced according to GlobalGAP standards is 82 ha, and the output is estimated at 1,000 tons.
The lychee harvest time in Bac Giang province is from May 25 to July 30. The early lychee period is from May 25 to June 15, main season lychee period is from June 10 to July 30.
