Category 14 super typhoon Molave tends to make landfall in South Central Region

According to forecasts from various international sources, typhoon No. 9 (Molave) will make landfall in Quang Nam and Binh Dinh provinces on 28 October with wind gust of over level 13.

As posted by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), related information on typhoon No. 9 (Molave) was updated right after typhoon No. 8 (Saudel) approached East Sea. In the afternoon of 25 October, the typhoon was still in the eastern Philippines with wind scale of 65-80 knots equal to level 12 and gust up to over level 13 on Beaufort wind scale.

JTWC says, in the next 3 days, the typhoon will continue to become stronger when moving toward the west. Particularly, it is considered that as of 28 October, the typhoon will land on the coast of central Vietnam, wind scale is measured to amount 85-100 knots equal to level 14 and gust up to level 16.

Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) delivered a softer remark which is somewhat different from JTWC. Particulary, as forecasted by JMA on 25 October, maximum wind scale surrounding typhoon center was 55 knots equal to level 10 and gust up to 80 knots equal to level 13. When making landfall, maximum wind scale surrounding typhoon center was 65 knots equal to level 12 and gust up to 95 knots equal to level 15.

Both JTWC and JMA predicted that until 29 October, typhoon No. 9 will continue moving toward the west, acrossing Combodia and Thailand before melting away in Thailand. About its course, JTWC and JMA all said the typhoon will land on Vietnam South Central region on 28 October and lay centered in the area between Quang Nam and Binh Dinh provinces.

Earlier on 25 October, typhoon No. 9 directly affected archipelagos of the Philippines, and later on 26 October will approach East Sea and move across East Sea all the day of 27 October.

Currently, in response to typhoon Molave, the Philippines has evacuated 2,000 people while the Philippine meteorological forecasting agency says the typhoon will continue to upgrade when landing on Luzon island. According to Reuters, the Philippine agency also estimates that typhoon Molave is possible to reach super typhoon category in the evening of 28 October. 

Before Molave landing the Philippines, typhoon No. 8 (Saudel) caused widespread flooding in Quezon province in the Calabarzon region, southeast of the capital Manila.
