Cassava export has increased significantly in 2020

Cassava export has increased greatly this year, despite the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic. Thereby, it is an important contribution to the growth of exports of cassava and products from cassava.

Accoding to the General Department nof Vietmam Customs, in September 2020, cassava export reached 17.09 thousand tons; worth US$ 4.43 million, increased up to 63.4% in volume and 59.4% in value compared to 2019.

In the first 9 months of 2020, cassava export reached 497.65 thousand tons; worth US$ 113.07 million; increased up to 85.1% in volume and 94.7% in value compared to the same period in 2019.

The strong growth of cassava export has made an important contribution to the overall growth of exports of cassava and cassava products. In the first 9 months of 2020, exports of cassava and cassava products reached 1.92 million tons; worth US$ 677.83 million; increasing 11.2% in volume and 0.6% in value over the same period in 2019.

The average export cost of cassava and cassava products in Vietnam in September 2020 was US$ 395 / ton; increasing 8.1% from August 2020, but decreases 0.5% in comparison to September 2019.

In September 2020, exporting cassava and cassava products is primarily to China, accounting for 92.3% of the country's total cassava export volume with 170.55 thousand tons, worth US$ 66.89 million; increasing 23.2% in volume and 30.1% in value compared to August 2020; compared to September 2019, it increased by 3.5% in volume and 2.1% in value.
