Cashew nuts imported into China mainly come from Vietnam

(VAN) Cashew nuts imported from Vietnam into China increased sharply in turnover, helping Vietnam take a sharp rise in market share in this billion-consumers market.

According to a recent report from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), the country's cashew nut import turnover in September 2021 reached USD 22.24 million, up 17.7% compared to the same period in 2020.

China's cashew nut import turnover in the first nine months of this year reached USD 125.84 million in general, up 23% over the same period last year.

China imported cashew nuts from Vietnam with a turnover of USD 110.88 million, an increase of 28.7% in comparison to the previous year. Vietnam's cashew nut market share in China's total imports increased from 84.17% in the first nine months of 2020 to 88.12% in the first nine months of 2021.

The turnover and market share of Vietnamese cashew nuts in the Chinese market are far ahead of the following suppliers: Togo USD 4.6 million, accounting for 3.63%; Benin USD 3.3 million, accounting for 2.61%; Ivory Coast USD 2.8 million, accounting for 2.23%; Cambodia USD 1.6 million, accounting for 1.23%.
