(VAN) Over 250 booths of more than 100 domestic and foreign units and businesses gathered at the Vietnam International Agriculture Fair 2022 in Can Tho City.

Vietnam International Agriculture Fair 2022 is an activity to support businesses, restore production and business activities, promote brands and strengthen the connection with partners after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The fair attracted over 250 booths of more than 100 units and businesses from 20 provinces and cities of Vietnam and countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Korea, Japan, and India,... With a variety of fields serving the agricultural industry such as agricultural machinery and equipment, production lines, fertilizers, pesticides, supporting technologies for high-tech agriculture, post-harvest preservation techniques, and regional specialties,...

The Mekong Delta region has the strength of being a key agricultural and fishery production area. It plays an important role in ensuring the country's food security, with leading agricultural production value. Since then, the application of science and technology for agricultural production is an inevitable trend and a driving force for the region's agriculture and creating new opportunities.

Recently, the application and transfer of new and advanced technologies into agricultural production have taken place strongly in the Mekong Delta. Especially equipment for synchronous mechanization, biotechnology, circular technology, 4.0 technology, and digital transformation technology in agriculture. These technologies will facilitate the development of large commodity production associated with environmental protection, creating transparent, safe, quality agro-products with high efficiency and competitiveness. Moreover, the application of science and technology in agriculture also promotes the modernization of the agricultural industry. It meets the increasing needs of society and ensures sustainable agricultural development.

Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, assessed that the Vietnam International Agriculture Fair 2022 is an important trade promotion activity. It introduces achievements in agricultural development, especially high-tech agricultural products. Consequently, it promotes domestic and international trade. At the same time, provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta also have the opportunity to promote agricultural potential, introduce local typical products, and create sustainable output for agro-products. Most importantly, the Fair contributes to the implementation of Resolution No. 19 on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas and the Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development for the period of 2021 - 2030 with a vision to 2050.

Bui Van Ngo Agricultural Engineering Company is one of the famous businesses specializing in the production of rice milling equipment in the country. Coming to this fair, the business introduced a series of equipment for rice processing from drying, storing, and milling of Vietnamese rice with international standards. On the sidelines of the fair, Mr. Nguyen The Ha, Advisor of Bui Van Ngo Agricultural Engineering Company also commented on the modernization of the rice processing industry to increase the value of rice.

According to Mr. Ha, with about 25 million tons of rice in the Mekong Delta, if the loss is reduced and the processing value increases to VND2,000/kg, the region will have about VND50,000 billion/year, enough to mechanize and modernize the country's agriculture. Currently, the issue of mechanization and modernization of the processing industry plays a decisive role in changing the destiny of agriculture. It is based on domestic mechanical industry development and requires a value chain from the field to the dining table. Mr. Ha analyzed, a cooperative or an enterprise is not enough, we need a national strategy on agricultural mechanics.

Participating in the Vietnam International Agricultural Fair 2022, Dr. Kong Putheara, Commercial Attaché, Embassy of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City said that the fair has created favorable conditions for domestic and international businesses to meet and connect with each other to develop agriculture-related industries. Dr. Kong Putheara also expressed that in the coming time, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia will look for partners in Cambodia to connect Vietnamese businesses to develop together.

Within the framework of the Fair, Ecobiznet Company, a Korean business, also introduced a line of probiotic strains with outstanding functions for the agriculture, livestock, aqua feed, and environmental improvement industries. Mr. Nguyen Hoai Thanh, a representative of Ecobiznet Company talked about development orientation in the Vietnamese market, especially in the Mekong Delta region. He said that this business is focusing on developing organic product lines to replace pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Through the development of microbial strains capable of fixing nitrogen, converting insoluble phosphorus into soluble phosphorus, helping farmers reduce fertilizer costs.

According to Mr. Thanh, the Mekong Delta has great potential in the field of cultivation and aquaculture. The use of microbiological products, though slower than chemical products, is durable. Therefore, the product lines need a long time of testing to prove effectiveness. It is expected that by the end of 2022, the Company will launch the product to market.
