The Steering Committee for the "Vietnamese People, Vietnamese Goods" Campaign in Ho Chi Minh City organized a conference on March 8 to establish a sustainable supply chain and enhance the quality of Vietnamese goods.
According to Ms. Tran Kim Yen, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee of the "Vietnamese People, Vietnamese Goods" Campaign in Ho Chi Minh City, the campaign aims to generate a shift in perception and behavior towards prioritizing the use of Vietnamese goods.
Consequently, the campaign has fully utilized the role of Vietnamese businesses, instillied a sense of national pride and identity among the Vietnamese consumers, and fostered a culture of Vietnamese production, business, and consumption.
The campaign has been integrated with various socioeconomic development programs within the city, thereby generating significant ripple effects. Consequently, it contributed to enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods, and promoting the economic development of the city as a whole.
According to Ms. Yen, the Steering Committee of the Campaign focuses on establishing fundamental and specific solutions to enhance the quality of the movement, thereby generating a shift in perception within various social classes. Additionally, the campaign aims to generate a shift from "Vietnamese people prioritizing Vietnamese goods" to "Vietnamese goods winning the hearts of Vietnamese people" within the political system.
One of the key solutions within the campaign is to construct a sustainable supply chain for Vietnamese goods, following a modern, transparent, safe, and efficient direction.
"This is a supply chain in which participating businesses must embody transparency and responsibility, ensuring honest production and distribution. The supply chain will also serve as the foundation for directing production, enhancing the quality of Vietnamese goods to meet the standards of Vietnamese consumers, increasing competitiveness against other imported goods, and targeting demanding export markets.
"Vietnamese goods winning the hearts of Vietnamese people" is fully compatible with the interests of legitimate businesses with long-term vision and responsibility. Many businesses only sell products that they are willing to use themselves. Many distribution systems view quality control and quality assurance as vital factors for survival," Ms. Yen emphasized, affirming that this campaign stands as a commendable development and a necessary condition for the Steering Committee to propose the Quality Control Cooperation Program. The campaign encourages the connection of distribution systems, cooperation in the quality control of goods on a voluntary basis, the joint establishment of a code of conduct, and the collective rejection of suppliers who violate quality standards. Consequently, these efforts will serve as a comprehensive deterrence, as well as direct the development of supply chains towards health, safety, and responsibility.
Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, highly commended the responsibility of the city's Fatherland Front Central Committee and various organizations in mobilizing the public to prioritize Vietnamese goods.
Mr. Hai suggested the Steering Committee of the Campaign to comprehensively deploy measures as a means to support businesses in seeking sales opportunities, sharing market information to encourage the production of goods tailored to consumer tastes, building brands, and enhancing reputation.
Furthermore, there is a need to intensify communication efforts to help consumers understand the Campaign, prioritize the use of quality controlled products as well as products subject to quality control by six major distribution systems.
On the other hand, Mr. Hai proposed the Steering Committee to encourage the public to participate in providing feedback and suggestions to improve the quality of Vietnamese goods, as well as identify and report cases of counterfeit or low-quality goods that affect the reputation of Vietnamese products.
"Manufacturing businesses must further enhance their role and responsibility in quality control, thereby ensuring the supply of high-quality products and services, adapting to the green consumption and environmental protection trend, and contributing to building, promoting, and increasing the value of Vietnamese brands towards sustainable development," noted Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai.
