To effectively implement the Tien Giang Fruit Festival 2024, which is expected to be held in the middle of June, on the afternoon of April 12, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development had a working session with the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee to exchange general and specific contents for this event.

Accordingly, after 2 years of effective implementation, Tien Giang province advocates organizing this year's fruit festival on a larger scale, with the participation of more Ministries, branches, and businesses.

According to Mr. Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, in addition to the locality, this year's festival will have the cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Thereby, the festival not only brings images of fruits but also more than 200 OCOP products from the province to visitors.

In addition, the locality also hopes that the festival will have more workshops and forums with the participation of scientists, agricultural experts, and businessmen to bring newness to the entire event.

On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister Le Minh Hoan shared his wish to bring the Tien Giang Fruit Festival 2024 beyond a purely commercial space.

Accordingly, the event is not only a place to exchange and trade but also an opportunity to develop the fruit industry with stories of market, image building, and brand building.

"Besides, this is also an opportunity to expand scientific and technological exchange activities on fruit trees for people," the leader of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development further noted. The Minister also requires consideration and planning for activities inside and on the sidelines of the festival.

Regarding the results of the event, the Minister hopes that the event will be able to build the image of Tien Giang as the fruit center of the Mekong Delta and partly promote fruit products nationwide. Besides, there is the potential to activate garden tourism.

"The festival’s result is a change in awareness and thinking about the fruit industry, not only fresh fruit but also processed products. Thereby restructuring the fruit industry, first in Tien Giang", the leader of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shared.

According to Minister Le Minh Hoan, during the festival, there should be meetings between experts and farmers. These are technical experts and market experts to help farmers improve their understanding of production, standards, and norms if they wish to meet export markets. In addition, the Minister also suggested introducing new varieties and effective farming processes from research agencies to farmers.

According to a representative of the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, the scale of the festival will include fruit products from many regions across the country, and the number of delegates attending can range from 700 to 750 people, including international guests.

Regarding time, it is expected that the main events will take place from June 13–16. This is also the time that is considered suitable for the crop season of fruit trees in the Mekong Delta.
