Bac Kan is a mountainous province located in the Northeast region, a land rich in revolutionary tradition, rich in cultural identity, with many typical historical and cultural relics. The province has rich and diverse natural resources, many beautiful landscapes and locations and the potential for agricultural and forestry development.
Bac Kan province currently has 184 OCOP products, and over 90 products are recognized as standard rural industrial products. Including one product meeting OCOP 5-star standards and many 4-star products, with many more standard rural industrial products at regional and national levels.
Some of the province's OCOP products have been exported. Including products such as: Tai Hoan arrowroot vermicelli exported to the Czech Republic market; Thanh Tam leaf yeast wine, fruits and processed agricultural products (yellow apricots, gooseberries, ginger products...) exported to Japan.
In recent years, the province's transport infrastructure has been increasingly invested synchronously. The route from Bac Kan City - Ba Be Lake to Na Hang district (Tuyen Quang province) is under construction. Bac Kan province is also coordinating with the Ministry of Transport to prepare investment procedures for the Cho Moi - Bac Kan City expressway, coordinating with Cao Bang province to mobilize investment resources for the Bac Kan - Cao Bang route with a 4-lane highway. After completing these key roads, Bac Kan's potential for agricultural, forestry and tourism development will be effectively exploited.
The service and tourism sectors are receiving investment attention, Ba Be Lake is a special national monument that the province is focusing on building to become a national tourist area. Bac Kan also possesses unique intangible cultural treasures of the Tay, Dao, Mong, Nung... ethnic people
To promote tourism and stimulate consumption, from November 24 - 30, a series of trade promotion events will take place in Bac Kan province, linking consumption of key products, including the 2023 Northeast - Bac Kan Regional Industry and Trade Fair.
Particularly, the 2023 Northeast - Bac Kan Regional Industry and Trade Fair is a regional-scale trade event with about 200 booths from provinces and cities in the region.
This fair is a gathering place for many elite products and goods of the Northeast provinces in response to the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese products", supporting the development of the market for domestically produced goods.
The program aims to promote trade activities between localities, businesses, and cooperatives in the Northeast region in particular and the country in general. This is an opportunity to introduce and promote standard rural industrial products and OCOP products, standard products of Bac Kan province and the Northeast provinces.
In this series of events, Bac Kan province will also organize a conference to promote consumption and connect trade of products and goods of Bac Kan province in 2023; a training conference on market development skills and product consumption on the Internet for businesses and cooperatives; a forum for promoting consumption and connecting trade of agricultural products and OCOP products in Bac Kan province in 2023.
Mr. Ha Sy Thang, Director of the Bac Kan Department of Industry and Trade said that, this occasion is an opportunity for businesses and cooperatives of Bac Kan province and localities in the Northeast region to introduce standard rural industrial products, OCOP products. At the same time, this series of events will also introduce Bac Kan's potential advantages in the production and processing of agricultural and forestry products, and tourism potential to investors and tourists from near and far.
Mr. Hoang Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Bac Kan Department of Crop Production—Plant Protection and Quality Management, assessed that Bac Kan province does not have much rice growing area but has the advantage of producing clean agricultural products. For a long time, people in Bac Kan used fewer chemical fertilizers and pesticides than in other localities. In particular, the climate, water sources, and soil in Bac Kan are still relatively clean, creating very favourable conditions for the province to develop organic agriculture, including rice. If there is good promotion and effective linkages between people and businesses, organic rice production will develop rapidly in the coming time.
In the coming time, Bac Kan province will continue to expand the area of organic rice growing. Currently, localities are mobilizing people and attracting businesses and cooperatives to participate in the linkage chain from production and processing to consumption.
