In 2021, Vietnam's economy, including the agricultural and rural economy, will continue to be heavily affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. Many farmers will be damaged by the sudden interruption of the agricultural supply chain. However, farmers, including 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2021, have had solutions to limit damage and find ways to promote production and business.

Head of the Central Propaganda Department of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers 2021" program, said that among the outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2021, there are many young farmers with outstanding achievements and having larger production scale and higher income compared to previous years.

Especially, many Vietnamese farmers apply new production techniques, and many participate in the processing and digital transformation chain. Outstanding farmers do not necessarily have high incomes or have not achieved outstanding results in production. Still, these are examples of efforts to overcome difficulties and make positive contributions to the community.

At the conference, the delegates discussed the current picture of digital transformation in agriculture, discussed advantages, difficulties and obstacles in the application of digital transformation in agriculture; role and position of farmers in the digital transformation of agriculture, recommendations of policymakers, scientists and experts for digital transformation in agriculture.

Especially in agricultural production, many new models of the cooperative economic model have been built.

"Some outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2021 themselves were also damaged by the Covid-19 epidemic, which abruptly disrupted the supply chains of agricultural products of the transportation and distribution system, but each brought a unique message. Each farmer is a story of trying to get rich, living a beautiful and useful life," shared Mr. Nguyen Hong Son.

Honored to represent 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2021 speaking at the program, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong (Dan Hoa commune, Thanh Oai district, Hanoi City), expressed: "So far, farmers only operate on a small and fragmented scale, but a farmer doing business is a completely different story."

"In agricultural production, we always take advantage of technology as the top priority, always apply the most advanced and new techniques in practice, thereby helping many other farmers to improve their incomes," shared Mrs. Hong.
