With the theme "27 years of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods - Journey to a green economy", the announcement ceremony for enterprises with high quality products is a special annual event of the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods business community. The event welcomed the participation of more than 500 businessmen and 100 guests from trade promotion organizations, domestic and international buyers. Furthermore, a seminar was also held in the afternoon with the theme “High-Quality Vietnamese Goods and the opportunity to achieve success in the green economy”.

The 27th-year High-Quality Vietnamese Goods program continues to promote the sustainable values inherent in the key promotion program of Ho Chi Minh city, creating the most effective motivation to promote and encourage the campaign"Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods". The program also creates a driving force for enterprises to improve their products’ quality, develop brands, increase competitive advantages, and develop sustainably. The High-Quality Vietnamese Goods program is not only a bridge connecting enterprises' products with the system of domestic and foreign retailers, but it also helps to protect the legitimate interests of consumers.

The consumer survey to vote for High-Quality Vietnamese Goods 2023, chaired by the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association, was conducted in September 2022, after the Covid 19 pandemic has weakened. The survey of more than 61,000 votes was done through direct surveys at sale points, direct surveys of consumers in cities under Central, which are also economic centers of each region (Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh city, Can Tho…), and through online means. The survey aimed to collect the opinions and votes of consumers nationwide.

As a result, 519 enterprises were voted for the title of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods by consumers in 2023. Of which, 32 enterprises have won the title for 27 consecutive years - also the number of years the program has been arranged, 41 enterprises are voted for the first time, and 132 High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises – Intergration Standard were qualified for High-Quality Vietnamese Goods as per consumers’ votes. Up to now, the 2023 High-Quality Vietnamese Goods business community has left its mark by creating jobs for more than 341,560 employees and more than 28,790 part-time workers.

According to the survey, Vietnam's goods market is gradually developing in depth. Nowadays consumers not only value very basic factors such as perceived quality, durability, and price but also consider factors such as safety of use and freshness of products. Information on nutritional ingredients, origin, uses, product features or products with certified quality are factors that are of great interest to consumers specifically in the food and beverage industry.

Consumers are also willing to pay extra for products with outstanding advantages such as clear origin, guaranteed quality or environment-friendly standards (green label...) The demand for healthy products as well as "green", "clean" and "sustainable" goods with little impact on the environment is now a prominent trend.

The highlight of the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods program so far has been continuously changing and innovating in order to truly serve the growing needs of the domestic consumer sector, the domestic market, as well as the increasing pressures in foreign markets when exporting. In that context, green growth has also become a new criterion of Vietnam. In particular, after the 13th National Congress, the Party and State have introduced new policies on development, emphasizing green growth and the economy’s inclusive growth.

In the context of the world with exhausted resources plus the increased impacts of environmental pollution and climate change, many reports and studies have pointed out that the green economy and circular economy are the future’s inevitable trends. Those trends will influence and promote economic development in a way that ensures the efficient usage of natural resources while still having the capability to meet the needs of both quantity and living environment in the future.

Along with that, Vietnamese's consumption habits have changed greatly after the pandemic. A recent report of market research companies shows that the majority of consumers are willing to pay a lot of money for products that are committed to "green" and "clean" standards and are made from environment-friendly materials. Many people said that they prefer to buy organic, bio-organic, or non-GMO foods because of the traditional farming methods, which do not harm the environment. Consumers are becoming more aware of the connection between their health and the surrounding ecosystem.

Ms. Vu Kim Hanh, Chairwoman of the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association, said that all those movements and fluctuations require enterprises to make changes to adapt.  The High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association will continue to promote and persist with the new theme: "Green growth - Green economy - Circular economy" based on three pillars: “Standardization – Digitization – Commercialization”.

The role of standards is becoming a sharp weapon in competition, not only in the domestic market but also in the export market. In an information-gathering session from 197 businesses, most businesses raised the two most pressing needs. They ask for consultations to help them choose the right standard to be certified, and additional support so that they can participate and sell well in domestic and foreign markets.
