According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) has just issued preliminary conclusion on the 17th anti-dumping tax administrative review (POR17) from August 1st, 2019 to July 31th 2020 for Vietnamese pangasius and basa fish.

Accordingly, out of 63 businesses expected for initial review, DOC canceled the review for 28 companies due to various reasons. Among the remaining 35 companies, DOC selected Nha Trang Seafood Joint Stock Company (NTSF) and East Sea Seafood Processing Joint Stock Company (ESS) to answer the review questionnaire. In addition, DOC has also concluded that Green Farms Joint Stock Company is eligible for a separate tax rate.

Preliminary review results by DOC show that NTSF is not engaged in dumping so it will not be subject to anti-dumping tax, ESS is taxed at USD 3.87/kg because DOC believes that the company is not in full cooperation with DOC, Green Farms company enjoys a tax rate of USD 1.94/kg. The remaining companies among the 35 reviewed companies continue to be taxed at $2.39/kg as in previous years.

As such, currently, there are about 10 Vietnamese pangasius exporters not subject to anti-dumping tax by the US, including large exporters such as Vinh Hoan Joint Stock Company, Nam Viet Joint Stock Company, Nha Trang Seafood Joint Stock Company...

According to the General Department of Customs, in 2020, Vietnam's pangasius and basa fish exports to the US reach about 83,159 tons, equivalent to a turnover of about 228.79 million USD.
