Vietnam to host Agritechnica Asia Live 2022

"Agritechnica Asia & Horti Asia 2022" (AAHA) was taken place from May 25-27 in Bangkok, Thailand is the region's largest trade show for agricultural technology and and smart gardening.

Opportunity to access mechanisation

During this exhibition, visitors, traders and farmers saw more than 250 international brands from 26 countries with the most innovative solutions for agribusinesses in Asia.

The organiser announced Vietnam as the official partner country.

During 98 working sessions, agriculture experts share their knowledge and experiences at conferences such as the Sustainable Rice Production Workshop, the Asia-Pacific Trade Summit and the smart farming workshop for farmers hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam emphasised that AAHA was the place where Asian farmers could access to modern and efficient mechanisation technology that were suitable for agricultural production with many conditions and sizes.

“As a partner country of Agritechnica Asia Live, Vietnam warmly welcomes all who are interested in learning about our diverse and culturally rich agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Vietnam is a place where you can turn your ideas and initiatives into reality,” said Nam.

Alongkorn Ponlaboot, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, said: “The Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) mentioned policies to promote agriculture. smart agriculture, technology agriculture 4.0 and the development of the Smart Agriculture Action Plan 2022 - 2023.

These are the policies that MOAC is particularly interested in in order to systematically lay the foundation for smart farming in Thailand - a transformation towards a sustainable food industry. MOAC has implemented Technology Agriculture Policy 4.0 using digital technology as a tool to connect technology from upstream to downstream.”

The inevitable solutions

At the AAHA exhibition, Deputy Minister Nam announced that Vietnam will host the Agritechnica Asia Live 2022 event in the Mekong Delta with the theme "Synchronized mechanization towards sustainable agricultural production" in August 24-26, 2022.

He assessed that promoting synchronous mechanisation in agricultural production, applying smart, accurate and environmentally friendly technology towards digitisation and automation of agricultural production to increase productivity were the inevitable solutions for an efficient agricultural production and sustainable development.

He also emphasised that the goal of mechanised exhibitions was how to make farmers able to quickly and efficiently access the modern technologies that were demonstrated.

"In addition, it is necessary for them to have training programs to improve knowledge and skills in using technology, especially smart technologies, precision technology and environmental protection for people in using machines and equipment in agricultural production," he said.

“Mechanisation of agricultural production is the basis for building value chains of agricultural products with linkages and production cooperation between enterprises, cooperatives and farmers according to the process of agricultural mechanisation and sustainable development", Nam said.

Events in August

Deputy Minister Nam stated: “It is necessary to take advantage of the display and demonstration of machinery to promote events, thus help to raise people's awareness, create coordination between the authorities in the Mekong Delta with other localities in Vietnam and in the region.”

It is expected that at the event, there will be mechanisation demonstrations in localities of the Mekong Delta so that farmers can access new technology.

In addition, there will be an exhibition of new machines and technologies, including those developed by institutes and schools under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Center for Agricultural Extension, said that at present, the Event Organisation Committee was established and involved parties implemented work, such as models of rice mechanisation in the Mekong Delta .

Thanh said it was necessary to promote the synchronous mechanization movement in the Mekong Delta region right now, and let people know about the event in August with a series of events.

Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam emphasised that the goal of the event next August in Can Tho City was to convey and guide farmers to use the machines in a synchronous and effective manner, at all levels.

Dr. Tran Ngoc Thach, Director of the Mekong Delta Rice Institute: "The institute has changed the harvest schedule, and the seed processing has been completed before the event, ensuring the ground.

Regarding the venue for the demonstration, the Institute has planted seeds so that at that time the rice is ripe, serving the harvester, and also has an open ground for tilling machines, transplanting machines, precision sowing machines, drones to performance.

The demonstration models at the institute have been prepared in many ways of sowing. In addition, there will be demonstration of the most advanced rice farming techniques today including water management, weed management, fertilizer management, pest management, using drones to spray."

Phan Van Tam, Marketing Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company: "Binh Dien Company will bring 1,000-1,300 farmers in 13 Mekong Delta provinces to attend the "mechansation festival" this August in the Mekong Delta. Before the event, there will be a contest for good rice farmers, which is expected to end on August 23, and will award prizes on August 24. We will also offer more than 1,000 uniforms for farmers to wear".

Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee: "Can Tho city will arrange accommodation and vehicles for foreign delegates, guests from the Central Government, provinces to ensure safety. I suggest the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the provinces display OCOP products at the event venue".
