(VAN) The Department of Water Resources (MARD) reported that approximately 29,260 hectares of rice in the Mekong Delta were at risk of salinity damage.
(VAN) The Da Do irrigation system serving more than 32,000 ha in Hai Phong is being seriously threatened by increasing saline intrusion.
Saline intrusion is 6 to 13km higher than the average of many years, at Ham Luong river, salt water of 4g/l has intruded 56km, Co Chien river 51km, Cai Lon river 50km, Hau river 45km.
The Southern Institute of Water Resources Research has recommended a precaution of strong wind blows which can cause sudden and high salinity in the Mekong Delta during the lunar January's full-moon occasion.
