(VAN)The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) issued an urgent Official Telegram on urgently taking strong measures against IUU fishing, preparing for the 4th working session with the EC’s Inspection Delegation in October 2023.
(VAN) The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requested that localities strengthen the management of fishing vessels, including procedures for registration, issuance of fishing licenses, and issuance of certificates of food safety and hygiene.
(VAN) More than 1,000 fishing vessels belonging to the category of 'missing' in Kien Giang province are classified as a group of fishing vessels at high risk of violating regulations on illegal fishing.
(VAN) Binh Dinh does not allow making new fishing vessels with a length of less than 15 m and temporarily suspends the issuance of licenses for fishing under 15 m operating outside the province.
(VAN) The EC inspection team is planning to visit Vietnam from May 24 to May 31 and perform an evaluation of anti-IUU measures in Phu Yen province.
(VAN) Despite localities’ efforts against IUU fishing, there are still many loopholes that need to be resolved to successfully remove the IUU yellow card.
(VAN) After the EC delegation’s recent inspection of the work against IUU fishing, Vietnam will put more effort to soon remove the IUU 'yellow card'.
(VAN) Four important issues the EC mentioned during the inspection are the framework for legal, fleet management, supervision, and traceability.
