9 groups of issues at the 2022 Prime Minister and Farmers Dialogue

(VAN) In the spirit of democracy, transparency, innovation, sincerity, trust and responsibility, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested the parties discuss in detail to thoroughly handle issues.

At the 4th Prime Minister and Farmers Dialogue in 2022, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh raised 9 groups of issues in need of discussion.

Firstly, policies to support farmers in recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, especially when input prices are high and agricultural output faces many difficulties.

Secondly, the linkage and cooperation in production along the value chain, the central of which is the link between the farmers and businesses; and development orientation in modern agricultural cooperatives.

Thirdly, train farmers on knowledge, culture and skills in agricultural production to promote digital transformation.

Fourthly, increase profits for farmers outsourcing in agriculture, in face of increasing businesses' investment in agriculture, including many foreign businesses.

Fifthly, solutions and policies to increase the rate of processing and export of official agricultural products, expand export markets and limit dependency on a singular market.

Sixthly, build and establish an organization responsible for synthesizing market information and informing farmers of indicators to produce following market signals, ensuring that farmers' production will not fall into decline.

Seventhly, appraise farmers' land use rights close to the market price, ensuring livelihoods and jobs when the land is recovered. Accordingly, create a basis for farmers to receive commensurate benefits when the cooperating with businesses.

Eighthly, promote the national start-up movement, spread more ideas, projects and start-up models initiated by farmers.

Ninthly, develop mechanisms and policies to encourage investment in scientific research to master a number of key plant and animal varieties, increasing the competitive advantages for the agricultural sector.

"One dialogue cannot solve all of these issues. We must constantly resolve challenges that arise, make efforts to strive", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh declared.

According to Mr. Luong Quoc Doan - Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, this year's Conference features a new multi-dimensional dialogue. In addition to outstanding and excellent farmers, there are agricultural experts and leading scientists as well as agricultural businesses and cooperatives participating in dialogue with the Government.

Through the preparation for the Dialogue , the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association has conducted extensive consultations among farmers' associations and their members nationwide. Over 1,600 questions, proposals and recommendations have been submitted at the Dialogue.

In Son La, 29 outstanding farmers, representing millions of farming households across the country, directly questioned the Prime Minister. In addition, there are 62 bridge points in different provinces and cities, with the participation of more than 3,400 delegates.

Three previous Dialogues between the Prime Minister and farmers have brought many benefits to the economy as well as to farmers, agriculture and rural areas.
