On December 4, 2020, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper celebrates its 75th anniversary (4/12/1945 – 4/12/2020). It was formerly known as Tac Dat (Land) Newspaper (being considered the voice of the then Ministry of Agriculture, which was afterwards named into Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development). The newspaper was proudly named by Uncle Ho who wrote an article for its first issue on December 7, 1945.
First and foremost, Central Propaganda Department would like to highly praise the newspaper for having successfully undertaken its mission in disseminating government’s policies and law to farmers throughout its 75 years of development, said Mr. Le Manh Hung, Deputy Head of Central Propaganda Department.
So far, the newspaper has been well received by readers in general and farmers in particular. Better still, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has also significantly contributed to agricultural and rural development, especially in terms of gearing local farmers up for the new era of farming.Over the past 75 years, together with the development of the country in general and agriculture in particular, the newspaper has also played a pivotal role in raising people’s awareness. Furthermore, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has actively spread knowledge of farming science and technology, agricultural restructuring and construction of new rural areas.
Secondly, journalists of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper also actively keep abreast of all the latest developments in agriculture in order to write informative articles that point out practical problems in agriculture and rural development while suggesting feasible solutions.
That the newspaper’s mission has been successfully undertaken has made it a useful pool of information for reference. In addition to spreading the government’s policies, it boldly points out outdated customs, inappropriate behavior and dark sides of the society while hailing fine customs and encouraging good deeds with a view to fostering agriculture and rural areas in general and bettering farmers in particular.
Thirdly, in recent years, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper also has made significant transformations in its works as well as in journalistic technology.
From the perspective of Central Propaganda Department, we hope that the newspaper will continue to foster its innovation and creativity, especially in the era of information proliferation and multimedia development, in order to continue to be the leading news agency of agricultural sector, which promptly keeps abreast with and reflecting latest slices of life.
By fulfilling such duties, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper will certainly raise its status and reputation, not only in the agricultural and rural fields but also in other aspects.
Fourthly, it is worth noting that identity is instrumental in retaining readers' interest. Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has done a good job in maintaining its identity over the past 75 years, and gained a foothold in the media landscape.
Thanks to the newspaper’s identity, readers can easily associate it with high-quality articles which provide in-depth insight into the issues of agriculture, rural areas and farmers while playing a crucial role in the realization of the national target program on new rural construction.
The national target program needs the concerted efforts of the Communist Party and all citizens in order to create better rural areas, improve farmers’ living standards, promote fine customs while gearing local people up for the international integration.
Last but not least, the agricultural products accounts for a significant proportion of export turnover, playing a vital role in stabilizing the country’s social and economic status, even when the coronavirus outbreak hit the world and took a toll on the global economy.
To sum up, we would like the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper to develop strategies so as to promote news with regards to agriculture and farmers, in order to help Vietnamese agricultural products gain in popularity and gain a foothold in the international market. The farmers should be made aware of the fact that they need to gradually raise the produces’ quality to the global standard, with a view to boosting Vietnamese produces’ value and improving their livelihood.
If the aforementioned duty can be accomplished, we believe Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper will earn a greater reputation, and gain a wider readership in the time to come.
