The US agriculture exports are projected to hit a record US$157 billion this fiscal year 2021 thanks to higher oilseed and grain export forecast.

According to the Industry and Trade Information Centre under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on February 18, 2021, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecast the US agriculture exports at US$ 157 billion, up US$5 million from the November 2020 forecast.

USDA said that the record agriculture exports are driven by higher oilseed and grain export forecast. Specifically, in the fiscal year 2021, US soybean exports are projected at US$27.4 billion, marking an increase of US$1.1 billion compared with the November forecast as China is having a strong demand for US soybean and soybean price is increasing. During the fiscal year 2020, the US earned US$17.87 billion from exporting soybean.

US corn exports in the fiscal year 2021 are expected to reach US$14 billion, up US$800 million from the November forecast. Last fiscal year, US corn export value was US$8.21 billion.

US wheat exports in the fiscal year 2021 are expected to reach US$6.9 billion, up US$700  million from the November forecast. Last fiscal year, US wheat export value was US$6.25 billion.

According to the USDA, US agriculture imports are projected at US$137.5 billion in the fiscal year 2021, up US$500 million from the November forecast.  Last fiscal year 2020, the US spent US$133.22 billion importing agriculture products.

So, in the fiscal year 2021, the US is projected to have a trade surplus of US$19.5 billion.
