Two fishing vessels' registration numbers terminated for violating foreign sea

The two punished fishing vessels, BĐ 95593 TS and BĐ 50869 TS, were found fishing and illegally intruding into sea areas of Malaysia on October 9, 2020.

The central province of Binh Dinh’s Fishery Department has terminated the registration numbers of two fishing vessels from Binh Dinh for their violations of the Regulation on Management of Fishing Vessels issued following Decision No. 50/2019/QD-UBND dated September 25, 2019, of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh Province.

The two punished fishing boats, BĐ 95593 TS and BĐ 50869 TS, were owned by Nguyen Van Le, 50, and Truong Van Rang, 58, both of whom were from Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province.

They were found fishing and illegally intruding into sea areas of Malaysia on October 9, 2020.

It occurred when the Binh Dinh Fishery Department received an Official Letter No. 3504/BTL-PL dated October 11, 2020, from the High Command of Coast Guard Region 3 on the handling of two fishing boats and their owners for violating the Malaysian waters on October 9, 2020.

Shortly thereafter, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh Province requested the provincial Border Guard Command to verify the "background" of the two above fishing vessels.

The verification results showed that the two fishing boats finished procedures to leave for squid fishing at Cua Dai sea in Tien Giang Province on October 5, 2020, with 5 other crew members on board of each, who all had permanent residence in Tien Giang.

On October 9, 2020, the two boats were detected by the patrol force on board the patrolling ship KN 267 of the High Command of Coast Guard Region 3. The force had made a record of their administrative violations of Malaysian waters.

However, the two violating boats were regularly anchored in the waters of Tien Giang province, but did not return to their locality thus they had been deleted their registration numbers by Binh Dinh Fishery Department.

Moreover, as the boats’ owners and the captains did not sail their boats back to their localities, the authorities in Binh Dinh could not handle them.  As a result, the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee requested the High Command of Coast Guard Region 3 to coordinate with relevant agencies in completing the dossier to submit to the People's Committee of Tien Giang province for handling the case in accordance with the law.
