(VAN) Vietnam's tea industry, one of the top five tea-exporting countries in the world, is facing a concerning reality as the average export price of Vietnamese tea is only 67% of the global tea price.
(VAN) Vietnam's tea exports exceeded 120,000 tons in the initial 10 months of 2024, with a value of nearly USD 212 million.
(VAN) As consumer demand shifts toward specialty and high-quality teas, innovation and 'premiumization' are key drivers for market expansion.
(VAN) However, in terms of value, Vietnam only ranks second, accounting for a proportion of 12.1%, much lower than the 39.6% of the largest tea supply market, Sri Lanka.
(VAN) Lam Dong requested production facilities and businesses not to use chemicals to color tea leaves and enhance management of products' quality.
(VAN) Despite its prominence, Thai Nguyen tea is only able to capture the domestic market, since its brand name and glittering light of the past have hindered the product to reach out to the world.
(VAN) Vietnamese tea presently has a negligible percentage of the world's five main tea import markets.
Although Vietnam’s tea overall exports fell both in volume and in value amid Covid-19 pandemic, its exports to India witnessed a sharp rise.
